East Arlington’s Capitol Square Arts and business district has much to offer this Valentine’s Day. We feature a distinct mix of shopping, dining, arts and entertainment venues who collaborate on offering activities, events and deals for the community. Here is what’s in store:

 

 Artbeat Your Creativity Store holds its annual Valentine Card Making Extravaganza on Sat Feb 11, 3:00-6:00pm. Choose from their colorful cards, lace doilies, paper hearts, ribbon, confetti, and more to create the perfect card for someone special or the whole class!( $12/pp )
Saturday February 11 6:00 to 8:00: Adult Card Making Workshop Create a unique and beautiful card for someone extra special. Enjoy a wide variety of extraordinary papers, beautiful stamps, and creative cutouts to make a truly stunning card for your loved ones.($12/pp ages 13 and up)
Sunday February 12: Valentine Cookie Reception 3:00 – 6:00 PM Come in to Artbeat and enjoy delicious treats while making a delightful free V-Day project: create a lovely votive candle holder with fun heart shapes to celebrate the season.

 

 13Forest Art Gallery will be premiering a new show Ordo naturalis ( Reception 2/10 7-9 pm) featuring new work from Anne Cavanaugh and Kyle Larabee.
13Forest will also hold a Jewelry Trunk Show featuring Caroline Golden 2/11 Sat, 12-2 pm, as well as Special Valentine’s Day Eve hours 2/13 Mon, 5-8 pm

 

 Flora Restaurantwill be serving a pre-fixe 3 course menu including some surprises (an extra course, bags of home made chocolates and roses for the couples if you MUST know!). Price: $75 per person. They will also be offering a “For Lover’s Only” 3 course set menu in addition to the regular menu for the entire Valentine Weekend including Monday, February 3rd.

Up and down Mass ave we saw families enjoying free crafts, shopping specials and holiday snacks provided by the Capitol businesses. Christmas Carolers and Santa’s Elves brought joy to many children and families. During the bustling activities, we heard countless “thank you’s” from residents who commented on how great it is that we collaborate to bring activities like this to the community.

The annual holiday celebration will include family entertainment, caroling, tree lighting, shopping specials, and plenty of holiday treats. All events are free.

The Capitol Theatre will show classic Christmas cartoons from 1:00 to 4:00. more

At Artbeat the elves will be painting faces and helping kids make glitter ornaments. more

Kidcasso will throw a Winter Wonderland party with snowman art projects.more

Quebrada Bakery will give out star cookies.

Flora Restaurant will hold their annual craft show from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. more

There will be plenty of treats and store specials at all participating businesses, which include Sadie’s, Artwear, Maxima Gifts, 13FOREST Gallery, and Marbella Kitchen and Bath.

Two caroling groups, from Calvary Church, United Methodist in East Arlington and the Cape Cod Choraliers, will stroll the streets delivering holiday cheer, and there will be a tree lighting at 4:30 at the Summit House across the street from the Capitol Theatre.

 East Arlington First Lights is supported by Cambridge Savings Bank and Leader Bank.
